Working for Brumani Marketing

Posted by Mary

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Brumani Marketing is a great company for a home-based worker. The company does outbound calling to set appointments and/or to generate leads for outside sales representatives. This small but rapidly growing company was founded by two “work-at-home mothers”, Nicole Brumfield and Elaine Marks, and truly treats its workers with care and respect.

This is an amazing company to work for! First of all, they do not hold back any pay. You work Monday through Friday, and get paid Friday afternoon for the week that you just completed. How many other companies do that? None that I can think of! The work environment is a lot of fun, and can get giggly as the day progresses. You are on a Skype conference call and chat room while you work for purposes of monitoring. If you have a question or need help, a helping hand is just a few seconds away. You are never thrown into the deep end of the pool, to see if you will sink or swim. You are even allowed to use the rest room if you need to without asking permission first- just let them know that you are going, so that they don’t think something bad happened to you when they hear silence at your station. Don’t laugh- at another company I worked for, you had to ask permission and wait until it was given by one of the “NOCs”- and they would play games with you and tell you that they weren’t the one on duty for your program or they were on break, and you needed to go ask somebody else. A friend of mine in her ninth month of pregnancy was forced to wait 20 minutes before a NOC gave her permission to go. Now, I think that’s obscene! Brumani understands that its workers are human beings with physical needs.

With Brumani Marketing, you work as an independent contractor, and turn in your availability every week. If you want a day off, just don’t schedule yourself as available on that day. One thing that they are very strict on is attendance. If you can’t make a shift, you must call out no less than three hours before the start of the shift and missing three shifts a month will result in termination. This is understandable- they have a business to run.

Working for On-Point Advocacy

Posted by Mary

On-Point Advocacy is a Virginia-based company that provides a very unique service. Home-based workers that work for the company are engaged making outbound telephone calls to people about current political issues and writing follow-up letters to the appropriate government official on behalf of the person whom they interview. You are an independent contractor with On-Point Advocacy and are paid by either direct deposit or by check if you choose. There is another company with a very similar name that is a blatant scam, so be careful not to confuse the two companies.

The mission of On-Point Advocacy is very noble and the pay is great for an at-home job- $12 an hour! To be hired by this company, you must submit a resume, and then you must successfully complete a writing test. The writing test consists of having you write two letters about a political issue, one for it and the other against it. Be sure to look up how to address the letter, using the information and proper salutation for one of your Congressional representatives. One you have cleared these hurdles, be prepared for a phone call and/or an email requesting a telephone interview. If hired, you will be given a date and time to report to training, which is done via conference call, using your computer. You also should download several documents and pieces of software prior to training, including the time clock software, which is how you get paid. You must commit to working at least 25 hours a week.

Working for Public Opinion Research

Posted by Mary

Public Opinion Research is a Maryland-based company that employs home-based workers as Independent Contractors. The work consists of making outbound telephone calls for the purpose of completing market research surveys. Your production determines your pay, along with the amount of money each survey is worth. The more complicated surveys pay more, but it is harder to get people to stay on the phone to take them. The company does random sample call-backs to check and make sure that you really interviewed the people that you are claiming payment for. Dishonest people are soon caught and let go, without pay. You are paid by check, and checks are mailed promptly. I have never had a problem getting paid with this company. Vicky Spiegel, the contact person for the company, is a very nice person who takes a personal interest in you.

The application process is very simple compared to Alpine Access and several other work-at-home companies. You submit your application online, and are then given a telephone number to call to record your voice for a voice quality test. The whole process took only a few days to complete, and then I was hired. The training is self-directed and done completely online. There are no conference calls, meetings to go to, etc. However, you must be self-directed and disciplined to get this done on your own. You also must complete the training before you are allowed to work. The training takes about 20 minutes, and you can repeat it as often as you feel the need to do so.

My only complaint about this company is that they don’t seem to have enough work to go around. It’s a feeding-frenzy whenever there is work. I did manage to make about $50 for three and a half hours work doing a very simple call reminding people about an election, and that money bought our Thanksgiving dinner. But, don’t count on Public Opinion research for steady income to pay the bills. It is easy work for extra money, but you’ll need to have another egg in your basket.

My Mommy Biz

Posted by Mary

I know I missed a day this week, but here is the good news. We have lots more articles and blog posts coming up so I wont have to miss anymore days for a while, Yea!!!!

My mommy biz is mostly about running your own business from home. What I especially like about this site though is all the goodies that help you run your business from home. If you are in direct sales you can find lots of worksheets on getting leads and there is even a lead program done every few months that can include your business.

You might have to pay for that service, but at least you can write it off. You should keep good records of what you can and cant write off too, so you are ready come tax time.

Another good thing about my mommy biz is that they have lots of ebooks they sell about starting your business from home. I havent bought one but I have to say just looking at the list has given me tons of ideas on working from home. Definately gets your brain going in a profitable way. Here is that list.

See you next week!

Work At Home

Posted by Mary

There are other opportunities that you can use to make money working from home. Such opportunities include direct sales such as Tupperware, doing surveys online, mystery shopping, merchandising, selling on ebay, and more.

These though are referred to as opportunites and I just want to explain what if anything you might be paying for. First of all when you join one of the hundreds of surveys clubs you only get lists of different companies online that let you do surveys from home. The good part is you have them all in one place, the not so good part is having to pay for the information. So necessarily it isnt a scam, but it is highly misleading to say you will make 100k per year doing it. I have a list of survey companies that I will be listing on this site soon to help those of you interested in that sort of thing. While every now and then you might make up to 100 an hour doing surveys it will most likely be far and few between the hours of doing this, there is very little chance you are going to do surveys from home for 100 an hour and make 4000 a week doing it. That is a dream that is quickly shot down once you pay to get into these surveys sites.

The same goes for mystery shopping. It is a real opportunity to make money by going out shopping, but in most cases you arent going to get anything big from it. Most of the assignments I have seen are for home maintenance stores and you are required to buy a small pack of gum or something under a dollar, then you get paid 7 dollars for the trip plus reimbursement for the gum. You can not buy anything else, to me it is a complete waste of time and effort and the pay is little to none once you have done all the work, especially if you have to take kids with you. On the other hand there are places that will pay you to do apartment shops and hotel shops where you get the night free, it depends on your area and what companies you get to work for. Dont expect anything huge up front. And do not pay for a subscription to a site that gives you a list. I will also be posting mystery shopping info in the next couple of days.

Hopefully you will understand that these scams are not considered scams by many because they are delivering a list of information, but you should know that they are only saying you could make that much an hour, not that you will and you can always use the charge back feature on your credit card if you are not happy.

Until then please check out the website http://www.workathomeagent.com to find out if they hire in your area to make money from home as a customer service agent.

WAHM.com as a Resource

Posted by Mary

If you havent yet become a member at http://www.wahm.com you most certainly should. The telecommuting mom boards under message boards are packed full of other women who have found work at home jobs and other ways to make money from the comfort of their homes.

Unfortunately when I started working at home I had not yet found this site, but I had gone through many scams, and just happened to stumble upon something that was real. I will never forget find wahm.com though. The owner has jobs posted at least weekly, articles written about working at home and then there are hundreds of members mostly women hence the name of the site WAHM (work at home mom).

By finding this site I was opened up to more places that hire work at homers and even found a couple of other jobs and learned how to get the most out of my own job. I still think one of the best ways to learn things is to enter a market through their forums. And this site has the best info on working at home.

Try them out
, its worth a shot, there are no fees, and you might make some friends.

Day 5- WAHR The Most Common Scams

Posted by Mary

The Internet is a great place for information and opportunity, unfortunately though it is very easy to get scammed when you are looking for opportunity, so lets go over some of the more common scams used in working from home.

First of all there is the opportunity to be a payment collector. This is where you get an email saying the company will have its customers send you the money, and all you have to do is take a percentage, then send it to the employer by check or money order and you get to keep a percent. Here is what really happens.

The employer pretends they cant use paypal so they need you to collect funds. You collect the funds usually by check or e-check on paypal from the customers. You subtract the amount you are promised usually 10% then you buy a money order and ship it to the employer. In the mean time the check you have accepted as payment bounces and you now owe your bank or paypal the amount of the check, not to mention you are out the 90% of the funds you sent as a money order.

Another common scams is the promise of millions of dollars because of some long lost relative who died and there is no place for the money to go. You provide them your banking information to get the money deposited and they wipe your bank account clean.

Next up is the very common data entry position. You are offered a position where you will do data entry but here is what happens. You pay the enlistment fee of $10 and you get a packet of information that teaches you about your new “job” The packet is really only a few copies of the same ad you saw when you signed up and then a list of different places to place the ad. When a new person finds the ad and signs up you get the $10.

Another huge scam on the Internet is the Ebay and Paypal scams where you get an email from Ebay or Paypal saying something is wrong with your account, immediately frazzled you click through to go to their website, you login and it says something is wrong, etc. The reality is you click and login to a site where they are collecting your information and using it for no good. What you need to do when you get an email like this is to delete it, then go to the website, by typing the name in the search box and then logging in. Only then can you tell if your account is having some kind of trouble.

Day 3 WAHR- Can you write?

Posted by Mary

There is still plenty of time before Christmas, and Associated Content is always looking for more media to add to their site. They accept articles, audio and video files, interviews, reviews and instructional submissions, plus many other writing assignments. You can go to their website and sign up, then check the message area for open assignments.

Once you decide what kind of media you want to submit you will get a list of the different topics they might be accepting for. You can always try to submit anything to the site and see if they are willing to buy it, then you decide if you want to accept their offer. It takes a good week or two to get payment to your paypal account, but it is still relatively quick and easy money for the upcoming holidays.

I recently read an ebook on Associated Content, called Increase Your Associated Content Profits by Matt Ryan. You are more than welcome to check out the store on this site to grab your own copy for a low $6.

Day 2 WAHR- Online Auctioning for $$$

Posted by Mary

Welcome to Day 2- Hope you liked yesterday’s information and found the resource helpful. Today we are going to discuss another quick money idea, you can use to make money for the Christmas, in time to be paid and to use the money for presents.

Just about everyone knows about or has used Ebay. But before you go clicking off this site, let me explain this resource and one of the many ways you can make money with it.

1 day auctions, will usually bring money into your paypal account in very little time. Just about all of us have something laying around the house we no longer use, now is the time to price it and put it up for auction.

It can be very easy to do this, first you can take a picture or refer to a stock photo you find online. Describe the item and list the auction with these specifications:

1 day, low (well researched, using completed listings) Buy It Now price, and paypal as your payment option.

Lots also do well, so a bunch of toys (to be used as gifts), or a nice lot of clearance clothing from a local brand name store should do well for a good sale. There are actually lots of other ways you can make money with Ebay during the holiday season, one woman I know wrote a whole ebook on how to make money on Ebay this holiday season, you might want to check it out at
