1. Based on a typical construction life cycle describe how different aspects of construction activity influence our ability to achieve sustainable development. Using examples for a dwelling, highlight how decisions made at one stage of the construction life cycle are likely to influence the relative performance or impacts associated with the other life stages. (1000 words)

2. Provide an overview of the current UK housing stock in terms of age profile, type and thermal performance. Consider this stock in light of recent energy policy and building performance initiatives and develop a strategy for managing the impacts associated with energy consumption over the next twenty or thirty years. (1000 words)
