I have heard many times that keeping the romance alive keeps the marriage alive. On some level I do believe that this is true, although romance is not actually a need it definately seems to help. Men sometimes are lost as to what they can do to be romantic, my guess is they don’t seem to think about it, like we do. As a disclaimer right now I would like to say I do know that there are several men out there that are romantic, mostly though they are just in the soap operas I sometimes get to watch. Back to the point, I have decided to research what a woman can do to get her husband/ significant other to be more romantic. So here is a little list of tips I have.
1. Leave clues, men can be completely clueless when it comes to women, so leave little clues here and there. Such as in a book he reads, on the remote, through someone else, an e-mail. We all know how clueless our men are by the time marriage rolls around, so you should know how subtle you can be.
2. Be romantic yourself, make it a regular thing to be romantic yourself, and hopefully once he enjoys it, he will initiate it himself.
3. Be blunt, buy him a book and ask him to read it, better yet get one for the both of you and read it together. As you go through it make notes in the margin of things you would both like. The book 1001 ways to be Romantic would be a great start for this tip because there would be so much to pick from.
4. Make a regular date to just be together, away from the kids, and other family, go through other couple books that ask questions of each of you, you might learn something new about yourself or your spouse.
5. Finally read yourself, books about communication with men, romance, and books or articles about the minds of men. They are quite different than women, and you can find explanations to many of their odd behaviors.
Here are some great resources for romance:

Here are a some ways that help me balance my time and also bring a little peace to the chaos that comes with being a mommy.
- Top priority for me as a Christian is to spend some time with the only One who can truely bring me peace. A quick devotional in the morning with my coffee while the kids are eating their breakfast really starts me off in the right frame of mind. My favorite christian writer is Beth Moore and her devotionals are always amazing. You can also check out a blogger I found who shares devotionals on her blog.
- For more order with your household duties you HAVE TO check out Fly Lady. My friend introduced me to this site a couple years ago and it is very helpful. You can use it to plan your meals, grocery lists, learn fast ways to clean your house, and even find fun holiday traditions to start.
- Start a “kid swap!†If you have close friends with little ones around the same ages as yours, just trade them for a day. A friend and I both have one child in school and one at home. She takes my 2-year old on Mondays and I get her 2-year on Thursdays while the bigger kids are at school. It really is a nice break and our kids love having play days!
- Make sure you have a support system. This is so important. We were never meant to do all this on our own. We as women need our friends and community to HELP us! If you don’t have a church family there are many other organizations to get involved in for help, support, and even friendship. One great one that I’m involved in is M.O.P.S. They are all over the country. Find one close to you and jump in!
- Lastly, do something for YOU. Make sure you adjust your schedule each day to squeeze in some personal time. That means NO KIDS. Put them down for naps, let them have some quiet time with books, or whatever seems to work with your kids. Read a good book, chat on the phone with some friends, post a new blog ;). Even if it’s only 20 minutes, when it’s over you will be recharged and ready to get back to being mommy.
Those are just some of many helpful ways to have a more balanced day. What are some of your helpful hints? I’d love to know!

I have recently been searching online for information on home owning. We currently have an apartment so we are hoping to someday own a home. HUD has a lot of help on this: Below is an excerpt from there 100 questions and answers for homebuyers.
15. WHAT SHOULD I LOOK FOR WHEN WALKING THROUGH A HOME?
In addition to comparing the home to your minimum requirement and wish lists, use the HUD Home Scorecard and consider the following:
 |
Is there enough room for both the present and the future? |
Take your time and think carefully about each house you see. Ask your real estate agent to point out the pros and cons of each home from a professional standpoint.
16. WHAT QUESTIONS SHOULD I ASK WHEN LOOKING AT HOMES?
Many of your questions should focus on potential problems and maintenance issues. Does anything need to be replaced? What things require ongoing maintenance (e.g., paint, roof, HVAC, appliances, carpet)? Also ask about the house and neighborhood, focusing on quality of life issues. Be sure the seller’s or real estate agent’s answers are clear and complete. Ask questions until you understand all of the information they’ve given. Making a list of questions ahead of time will help you organize your thoughts and arrange all of the information you receive. The HUD Home Scorecard can help you develop your question list.

I am a christian and I like to find sites online that offer information and different views on god, and jesus. I really liked this site I came across because it takes scriptures and adds them together to present you with a love letter from God. The scriptures are also referenced.

This is a nice little put together that explains happiness. How material things have nothing to do with it (something with which I completely agree), and the best way to go about getting happy.
Take responsibility for your mistakes. We fear others will dislike us when we make mistakes, so we torture ourselves by trying to hide or deny them. In fact, what people dislike are the excuses and the blame used to cover up mistakes. Owning up to your mistakes shows you care and helps bring resolution and healing.
Helpful:
Forgive yourself first, which is perhaps the biggest hurdle. Mistakes are tough on self-esteem if you aim to be perfect. However, no one gets through life without making a few.
Apologize and rectify the error. Others will welcome your help, and you’ll feel happier with yourself for taking constructive action.
Think of the most recent mistake you’ve made. If you haven’t made amends, it’s probably not too late to say, “I’m sorry.”
Stay in charge of your thoughts and feelings. Although you can’t control events, you can manage your reactions to them. Only you can decide whether to choose harmony or turmoil.
Example: After some treasured family heirlooms were stolen from me several years ago, I realized that my anger had taken over my thoughts. Only by vividly picturing the thief using the robbery money to buy presents for his children was I able to reclaim my thoughts. Unrealistic? Probably, but instead of obsessing about the injustice, I was able to get beyond my resentment.
The link below finishes the article of happiness.

This is a link to an article where the pork board is legally bullying someone who made a shirt that says the other while milk, and had it on cafepress. Wish there was something more I could do than to have people read it, but check it out and post it on your blog or website or in emails, get the word out there.
